So what specifically challenging about being married to a surgeon?Because there’s doctors and there’s surgeons and there is a difference. So I think that’s one thing that separates other medical specialties from, from surgeons is that sense of urgency that is often accompanying what they’re doing. What are the consequences if I do, what are the consequences if I don’t?

And so I think you do have to advocate for yourself, kind of a bummer. What would you say is specifically challenging to the surgeon life?Well, I mean you know as well as I do, but the training years, you know, it’s the long, long, long hours, the demands of being on call and I think also just the fact that there’s a person who’s laying on an operating table and you have to do what’s right for that person and you have to take care of them and it doesn’t matter what time it is, it doesn’t matter if it’s AM, you have to finish that surgery and you have to take care of them. I feel like they just, at the end of the day, they have to make really hard choices, you know, do I operate or not operate? So if you haven’t reviewed the show and could take a second to do that, at least leave it some stars, if you are on Apple listening, that would be great. So Central Illinois is where I live now with my husband and our daughter. I’ve always wanted to write a book, but this was one of those things. I like to say that it’s a love story set against the backdrop of modern medicine, so it’s really the story of my husband and I and how we met and how we survived his surgical residency training, but it’s also kind of a wider look at the field of medicine and what it’s like being married to a doctor and sort of just practicing medicine in America.
